You Had Me at Miniatures

January 27, 2026 | 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.

Ever wanted to sculpt a tiny lamp for a dollhouse or create a miniature picnic scene?

Join us for an evening of hands-on miniature making led by an exhibiting artist from the Charles Allis Art Museum’s current exhibition, Bated Breath: Neglected Possessions.

During this workshop, participants will learn about the artist’s practice with miniatures and be guided through the process of creating their own small-scale works. Materials will include polymer clay, fabric, paper, found objects, and plenty of glue. Participants will leave with a completed miniature setting and a newfound appreciation for the art of working small.

No prior experience necessary. All materials provided.

About the Artist
Leah Schlaghter is one of the featured artists in Bated Breath: Neglected Possessions at the Charles Allis Art Museum. Their work explores themes of memory, scale, and overlooked domestic spaces through intricately crafted miniature environments. By transforming everyday materials into detailed, intimate scenes, their practice invites viewers to slow down, look closely, and reconsider the emotional weight of small and often forgotten objects.
