It’s About Time is a collaborative quarantine performance by the femme performance groups Tingle and Heard Space, hosted by the Milwaukee Women’s Art Library (MWAL). The show blends live and recorded elements, incorporating archival footage from Theresa Columbus’ Tingle Showcase, an early 2000’s talent show hosted at the performance space Darling Hall.
Through past, present, and via virtual gathering, It’s About Time will explore concepts of time, togetherness, and the emotions surrounding pandemic-induced social distancing and isolation.

Women and non-binary artists operating outside of global economic centers are often overlooked not only by the regions which overshadow them but within their own localities, further distancing the women of future generations from the histories of their own communities. The Milwaukee Women's Art Library (MWAL) attempts to provide a solution to this issue by developing a library and archive founded on principles of solidarity, difference, and action. Organized by Chicago-based curator Ashley Janke, the MWAL will act as a space for the collective remembrance of women and non-binary people of all ethnicities whose actions, work, and narratives may otherwise become lost in the ebb and flow of the constantly shifting cultural landscape.
Tingle is a collaborative femme performance troupe who work in the spirit of vaudeville with a history of surrealist talent shows under their belts! Playing with the tropes of sitcoms, commercials, sketch comedy and more, Tingle is taking a quarantine foray into blending video with live performance, weaving a show together with Heard Space as they explore ideas of spanning time and apartments and feelings.
Heard Space is a multimedia performance arts collective based in Milwaukee, WI. Our productions are led + produced by womxn of color. Our mission is to carve out creative spaces for women of color to be heard. We write, produce, and perform original and reimagined works. It is our intent to take up space.
