Lectures & Libations: Public Health and the Creative Economy
October 16, 2025 | 5:30 p.m. – 7:30 p.m.
Join us for Lectures & Libations, an intimate evening of ideas, art, and conversation at the Charles Allis Art Museum.
This special program features Kevin Smith, Assistant Professor of Economics and Business at Beloit College and member of the Charles Allis Board of Directors, presenting “Public Health Provision and the Creative Economy: How Policy Shapes Artists’ Lives.”
Through a 30-minute talk, moderated Q&A, and informal networking, Kevin will explore how public health policy and economic systems influence the well-being and livelihoods of artists and creative professionals.
Guests will enjoy this engaging program inside the museum’s Great Hall, which currently houses our latest community exhibition, Human Condition: A Study of the Body. This exhibition explores the complexity of the human form and our ever-evolving relationship with it. Featuring works from local and regional artists, it highlights resilience, vulnerability, memory, and transformation—offering an intimate reflection on the diversity and nuance of being human.
Attendees will also have access to the first floor of the historic home to explore the museum’s permanent collection while enjoying light refreshments and great conversation.
