The Barkleys of Broadway

November 20, 2019 | 7:30 p.m. – 9:30 p.m.

THE GREAT GATSBY
1949, Color, 109 min
Ginger Rogers, Fred Astaire, Billie Burke, Oscar Levant

After a ten year absence on screen as a team, Rogers and Astaire are reunited in this delightful musical comedy. Their first and only film in Technicolor. The popular Broadway team breaks up when the wife (Rogers) decides she wants to become a dramatic actress. Little does she know that her husband has been directing her in secret. Several new songs (“My One and Only Highland Fling” – one of the few duo’s comedy routines) were written for the film. Also a revival of their classic, “They Can’t Take That Away from Me”.

Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and the film begins at 7:30 p.m.

Movie Time's Fall Schedule: A Patron's Special Request

For over 26 years I have been sharing my 16mm films with patrons of the Charles Allis Art Museum. It has become something very special for me, for over the years I have met many people, some who have become personal friends. Some have followed me from the days when I was showing films at the PAC in downtown Milwaukee and the Gallery Cinema in Bayview. Some have joined my personal film society, “The FOOFS” and some have introduced me to new ventures in my life. So, it is with great pleasure that I will be showing films personally chosen by you, the audience rather than a series selected by me. So, sit back and enjoy a film chosen by one of you. Always, my best. ~ Dale
