A mix-up when an American entertainer looks exactly like a Brazilian Baron. When the Baron has to be out of town they hire the American to impersonate him without letting his wife (Alice) know, only she does! Lots of fun with some 5 new songs including Carmen’s famous I Yi, Yi, Yi, Yi and Chica, Chica, Boom Chic. Alice gets to sing Boa Noite.

Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and the film begins at 7:30 p.m.

Movie Time's Summer Schedule: A Tribute to Alice Faye

MGM had Jeanette MacDonald & Nelson Eddy, Universal had Deanna Durbin, RKO had Ginger Rogers but 20th Century-Fox had ALICE FAYE! Alice was Fox’s top star and Darryl F. Zanuck’s favorite star. She began as a singer with Rudy Vallee’s Band. When the band went to Hollywood to make a film of George White’s Scandals, a long running string of Broadway reviews, Alice was hired as a singer. When leading lady Lillian Harvey backed out of the deal, Vallee suggested that Alice be given the role. Thusly, she was a star in her first film and was offered a seven-year contract. At first Fox tried to make her another Jean Harlow. They bleached her already blonde hair and penciled in her eyebrows. When Harlow died, Fox no longer needed an imitation. Director Howard King took Alice under his wing and allowed her natural hair to grow out as well as her natural eyebrows. He then cast her In In Old Chicago and the Alice Faye we know and love was born. Her next film, Alexander's Ragtime Band (June 5th) made her a super-star and Fox’s leading lady in the 1930’s and early 1940’s. Hit after hit followed. Until her retirement from the screen to take care of her daughters, she remained a favorite with audience and critics. We are proud to present one of the truly great musical stars in film history.
